Take: 1 x 2g ? 5g ? Post exercise with high G.I. sports drink e.g. your post workout carb/protein shake.

Glutamine (read my Glutamine paper for further guidelines)

Decreases muscle loss ? Increases Human growth Hormone production and improves muscle mass by 430%, improves brain function and boosts the immune system significantly. Glutamine has the ability to offset overtraining syndrome.

Take in a very small amount of water: Preferably on an empty stomach on waking, 15-20 minutes before breakfast take immediately after exercise before your recovery shake and 30 minutes prior to Bedtime.

Caffeine

Forget these ?caffeine drinks? they don?t produce the ?buzz? they are purported to, the ?buzz? only comes from the refined sugar rush I?m afraid. The most effective way is to take 200ml (2 cups strong coffee or 1 ProPlus tablet (it has a better absorption rate)), or a caffeine anhydrous supplement 20 ? 30 minutes prior to exercise for best effects to blast you through your workouts.

Be aware though that caffeine spikes you blood sugar levels, which can lead to fat storage.

For Recovery

Post Workout Protein Shake

Quality Whey Protein and Carbohydrate powder and Creatine Monohydrate.

(Add a serving of caffeinated coffee if you wish)

Melatonin

We naturally produce melatonin, but supplementation before bed will improve sleep quality thus improving the recovery process and your ability to grow. ?Take 2.5 ? 7.5mg 30 ? 45mins prior to bedtime.

Protein Intake Timing

On Waking ? High quality Protein with some carbohydrates to speed up protein synthesis (eggs/whey)

Pre-Workout (1-2 hrs) Whey protein?

Post Workout: 60:40% balance of Carbs (e.g. a banana) and Whey protein shake

Carbohydrates:

Fats

30% of diet should be mainly non heated polyunsaturates and monounsaturated fats. e.g. assorted nuts, cold pressed olive oil and avocado?s. These can increase the body?s natural testosterone production when taken in conjunction with high quality protein and the correct balance of fibrous and complex carbohydrates.
