Question by curious george: Is Montessori a good learning school and does it follow a patricular religion?
Child starts kindergarten in the fall 2011, looking for an alternative to public school.

Montessori is not a religion or anything to do with religion, It is a learning sustem, developed by Maria Montessori. It is a very structured way of teaching young children. I have worked in a Montessori school and also trained as nursery nurse, which encompasses all child care practises. So I studied both Montessori and other methods.

My advice to anyone who is looking for a school or kindergarten, is to go to the various schools in your area and arrange a tour, (All schools should welcome this, if not then they have something to hide) See the places for yourself and ask all your questions and concerns to the people in charge. Look at the children, do they seem happy and occupied? Only you know your child, and what kind of place they willl be happy in. Most of the parents who visited the Kindergarten I worked in ?said they felt it was right or not?
Now that I have my own children, that?s the advice I would still give, the school I chose, just felt right. The staff were warm and friendly, the children were well behaved, but still exuberant. I knew my children would love it, and they do. Both happy to go every day.
