MESA, AZ - Mesa officials say the city is close to landing a university campus for its downtown area.
An announcement is expected Wednesday.
The East Valley Tribune reports city leaders including Mayor Scott Smith will unveil the university's name, and an official from that college will be on hand as well.
City officials say the deal is the first of what could be many new college campuses for the city.
Mesa has marketed itself to colleges across the nation and recently announced about a dozen are seriously interested in locations that include downtown and near Fiesta Mall.
The Fiesta District sites include several privately-owned parcels.
The potential downtown campuses include private and city-owned land.
