Moroccans ccelebrating

Taza, Morocco, August 31, 2011

Shortsighted is he who confines Moroccans? demands only to staple foods and certain political amendments. As a matter of fact, the impulse that took people to the streets on 20th of February is not only their legitimate hopes for social welfare, but for psychological relief as well. In plain English, as Moroccans, we are in dire need for joy.

All what we need is a nationally celebrated event in which we can amuse, rejoice and unleash our inner emotions as pure Moroccans. We all want to feel the flavor of unity and belonging to the same nation not always through sustaining hardships and failures, but rather through experiencing moments of jubilation, joyfulness and taking delight in a real national festivity. In short, our crisis is not only economic and social, it?s a crisis of joy too.

Under the current regime and for decades, national happiness has been something of luxury to attain. Joy forsook our hearts for years; jubilation abandoned our streets and delight has been a mere rumor. We became easy prey to despondency, stress and dissatisfaction. Snorts and sighs have become part of Moroccan daily language while scowls and frowns have dotted every Moroccan countenance.

Morocco has been a flavorless and bland country. How poor are we the present generations! After independence, it took us more than half a century to see our expectations and dreams come true. Instead, some of us are yearning nostalgically for the colonization era. Fifty years that have been sterile, with no social achievement, no political innovations and no laudable economic tidings. We have been victims of fiascos and easy prey of crises.

Thirsty for any sort of joy and rejoicing, Moroccans have been hatching creative methods to satiate their emotions. They have been taking part in their neighbours? rejoicings. During the World Cup, they have been cheering the Spanish and the Algerian teams as if they were theirs. And when the Spanish matador won the World Cup, waves of ecstatic happy Moroccans took to the streets chanting and reveling in the victory, hugging each other, honking the horns of their cars and hoisting the Spanish flag high, meanwhile their sense of nationalism was becoming lower along with their flag.

During the last few weeks, Moroccans of all ages and ranks were among the first virtual invitees of the Tunisians, the Egyptians and the Libyans? revolutionary festivities, feeling as if they contributed more or less to the success of those revolutions. Via Twitter, Youtube and Facebook, they have been sharing suggestions, articles, photos, videos? aiming to help the revolutionaries with the little means they have. Their simple intention was to help in the preparation for a party where they can show their solidarity with te protesters .

Moroccans? lust for joy is extreme and much is needed to quench their desire. Saturday and Sunday are about to become sacred days for Moroccans from all walks of life, not because they are days off, but because Barcelona and Real Madrid matches are usually scheduled on those days. All caf?s are packed with audiences who seize the opportunity to unleash their feelings. They cheer, laugh, insult and when a goal is scored they release their euphoric emotions, hugging each other, waving the team?s flag and applauding.

In a nutshell, our demands for real social justice, real economic development and real political reform are not as ends in themselves. By doing so, we are aspiring for real psychological comfort and to lead our life with ease. That?s the aim.

AU head: Libya rebels may be killing black workers

(AP) ? Libyan rebels may be indiscriminately killing black people because they have confused innocent migrant workers with mercenaries, the chairman of the African Union said, citing the fears as one reason the continental body has not recognized opposition forces as Libya's interim government.

"NTC seems to confuse black people with mercenaries," AU chairman Jean Ping said Monday, referring to the rebels' National Transitional Council. "All blacks are mercenaries. If you do that, it means (that the) one-third of the population of Libya, which is black, is also mercenaries. They are killing people, normal workers, mistreating them."

He added: "Maybe it's looters, uncontrolled forces. But then the government should say something, condemn this. We want to see a signal that the African workers that are there, they should be evacuated."

Ping's comments follow concerns from international rights groups about beatings and detentions of immigrants from sub-Saharan Africa.

"I really fear vigilante justice and retribution and attacks by civilians against other civilians," said Richard Sollom, deputy director of Physicians for Human Rights, who is back from a June fact-finding mission in Misrata, Libya.

Sollom said Monday that his Boston-based group knew of about 500 Darfuris "who are desperately trying to get out of Libya. They have no money, they are basically homeless because they are from Darfur, and they very much fear for their lives because of the color of their skin."

Guest workers from Sudan, Chad, Darfur and other sub-Saharan African locales have been targeted in part because Gadhafi did hire foreign African mercenaries, Sollom said.

New York-based Human Rights Watch said Sunday that the evidence it has collected so far "strongly suggests that (Moammar Gadhafi's) government forces went on a spate of arbitrary killing as Tripoli was falling."

So far, there have been no specific allegations of atrocities carried out by rebel fighters, though human rights groups are continuing to investigate some unsolved cases.

Reporters for The Associated Press have witnessed several episodes of rebels mistreating detainees or sub-Saharan Africans suspected of being hired Gadhafi guns, including an incident where about a dozen black men were detained and some were punched.

Council spokesman Abdel-Hafiz Ghoga denied Ping's claims that rebels were responsible for such killings.

"These allegations have been made during the early days of the revolution," he said. "This never took place."

He added: "If happened, it will be the Gadhafi forces. Until now, we keeping finding mass graves of the newly liberated cities."

Libyan rebels appear to have secured the capital after a week of fierce fighting with loyalists to Gadhafi.

"It is over. The NTC took power ... they won," Ping said. "And now it is time for both sides to stop all the killing."

The AU has so far refused to recognize the council, although some of its member states, including Nigeria and Ethiopia, have done so. The United Nations has urged the AU to "encourage Libya's new leadership" and help unlock billions of dollars in frozen assets that the Libyan rebels say they urgently need to provide social services.

But many African nations have long-held ties with Gadhafi and the AU has had difficulties taking a unanimous position on Libya.

Ping also called for an immediate cease-fire and the formation of a coalition government that reflected the diversity of Libya. He said the world had ignored the AU's suggestions about Libya's crisis but that their roadmap ? which calls for a cease-fire but not for Gadhafi to step down ? was still relevant.

Ping said some of the Libyan rebel leaders insulted African countries by saying they have favored Gadhafi.

"The (rebels') attitude has been negative all along. I went to Benghazi. We have treated them equally," he said.

Ping said the AU will work with the U.N. and any other partners, including NATO, to find a political solution for Libya that leads to democracy.

Lawyer: Crittenton to surrender on murder warrant

This photo released by the FBI on Monday Aug. 29,2011 of Javaris Crittenton, age 23, of Fayetteville, Ga., who is wanted by the Atlanta Police Department on murder charges stemming from the August 19, 2011 fatal shooting of a 22-year-old woman, Julian Jones. The FBI says, Crittenton, a former NBA first-round draft choice, is believed to be in the Los Angeles area. The FBI warrant is for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution. (AP Photo/FBI)

(AP) ? Former NBA player Javaris Crittenton, who was suspended from the league for having guns in a locker room with teammate Gilbert Arenas, plans to surrender to face a murder charge in a deadly Atlanta shooting, an attorney said Monday.

Crittenton will fly from Los Angeles to Atlanta and should arrive early Tuesday, said lawyer Brian Steel.

"He offered to turn himself in," Steel told The Associated Press. "He's not guilty. We look forward to getting it to the courts."

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution first reported that Crittenton planned to surrender in Atlanta.

Police earlier obtained a murder warrant for Crittenton in the Aug. 19 shooting of 22-year-old Jullian Jones, a mother of four young children. Police say Jones was walking with two men when she was shot and they believe one of the men with her was the target.

Police spokesman Carlos Campos on Friday said the motive appears to be retaliation for a robbery in April, in which Crittenton was a victim.

When asked about Steel's statement that Crittenton planned to surrender, Atlanta police didn't confirm it.

"Mr. Crittenton is wanted for murder," Sgt. Curtis Davenport said late Monday. "We will be pleased when he is taken into our custody in a peaceful manner."

When he was with the Washington Wizards in December 2009, Crittenton and Arenas had a dispute over a card game on a team flight. Two days later, Arenas brought four guns to the locker room and set them in front of Crittenton's locker with a sign telling him to "PICK 1." Crittenton then took out his own gun.

Crittenton pleaded guilty in January 2010 to a misdemeanor gun charge and received a year of unsupervised probation. Arenas entered his guilty plea on Jan. 15. He served a short time in a halfway house.

Steel said he was retained by Crittenton's family on Monday morning, and was in contact with Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard and the FBI Fugitive Task Force to make arrangements for the former player's arrest.

"They asked that he come to Atlanta, and we said 'no problem,'" Steel said.

Crittenton is on the roster of the NBA developmental league's Dakota Wizards.

Paul still critical of US involvement in Libya (AP)

WASHINGTON ? Republican presidential hopeful Ron Paul said Sunday the apparent overthrow of Moammar Gadhafi's regime in Libya does not justify U.S. involvement there and may end up delivering al-Qaida what he called "another prize."

The Texas congressman has made his mark in the presidential race as a strict libertarian who would scale back the role of the federal government in domestic and foreign affairs. A recent Gallup poll shows him in third place in the GOP race for the presidency.

Asked on "Fox News Sunday" whether getting rid of Gadhafi was a good thing, Paul conceded that it was but added that Gadhafi's departure did not mean the long-term result would be good for the United States. He said that getting rid of Saddam Hussein was also good, but that the long-term result in Iraq has not been a success for the U.S.

"We've delivered Iraq to the Iranians," he said.

Paul said troops are already required to ensure order in Libya and that no one knows who the rebels in Libya represent.

"We have no idea of what's going to come out of Libya. I'm very skeptical," he said.

Paul said U.S. foreign policy should be focused on national security. Instead, he said, its foreign policy has drifted toward picking dictators around the world.

He said he resents the power that has flowed to the executive branch and the judiciary.

"I want to obey the Constitution and follow its very great restrictions on the government," he said.

Paul's disdain for government interaction continued with the Federal Emergency Management Agency, which has worked to help people along the East Coast deal with Hurricane Irene. He called the concept of FEMA a gross distortion of what insurance is supposed to provide and that it encourages people to build in unsafe areas, namely along beaches.

"FEMA has been around since 1978. It has one of the worst reputations for a bureaucracy ever," Paul said. "You can't imagine how many calls we get because FEMA is getting in the way and they can't get their checks, they can't get their bailout."

Analysis: Record prices spawn new wave of China gold bugs (Reuters)

SHANGHAI (Reuters) ? Record gold prices, rather than denting China's enthusiasm for bullion, have emboldened investors to plough more money into gold bars and riskier bullion-based derivatives.

August is traditionally a slow month for Chinese jewelers, but many shops in Shanghai visited by Reuters reported surprisingly solid gold sales over the last few weeks, with shoppers unfazed by gold's stellar price gains over the past few months.

"The surge in prices has sparked another gold-buying craze. The 50 gram and 100 gram gold bars were selling like hot cakes," said Ms. Liu, a store manager at Shanghai's major jeweler Lao Feng Xiang Co Ltd (600612.SS), who said gold sales this month were up at least 30 percent from a year ago.

The attitude of Chinese consumers -- expected to soon overtake Indians as the world's top buyers of gold -- will be an important influence on longer-term trends.

Demand from the world's most populous country, which is adding hundreds of thousands of people to the ranks of affluent and middle-income consumers every year, implies that the long-term price floor for gold is set for a steady increase.

BUYING ON DIPS

That demand may also help smooth out temporary drops in prices.

Spot gold has come off its record highs of over $1,900 an ounce hit last week, falling back to around $1,820 an ounce, but such dips appear only to embolden consumers.

"Many Chinese investors and consumers see price corrections as buying opportunities. The view that gold is an enduring store of value is firmly rooted in Chinese cultural traditions," said Hou Xingqiang, a gold analyst at Jinrui Futures.

"Gold's rally over the past two years and the debt worries in the West have only strengthened Chinese investors' belief that they need to own the metal as an investment asset."

There is no shortage of bulls on Wall Street forecasting even higher gold prices, with J.P Morgan predicting at least $2,500 an ounce by the end of the year.

Amid the gold frenzy, China's banks and brokerages have been quick to offer paper gold investments to cash in on the trend.

Trade sources at the Bank of China and Industrial and Commercial Bank of China say demand for their gold-linked savings products has soared, while a growing army of retail investors are also eager to dive into the paper gold market.

Expectations that gold will extend its bull run have also encouraged investors into the country's nascent gold derivatives markets, such as the forward and futures contracts on the Shanghai Gold Exchange (SGE) and Shanghai Futures Exchange.

Volumes for SGE's most popular gold forward contract hit a record high of 350,670 grams in August -- double the volume in July.

"More investors are moving into paper gold because of the lower capital costs. The prospect of making big and quick bucks by betting on gold's ascent is beginning to look like a fairly easy way to make money," said He Wei, a gold analyst at Nanhua Futures.

RISKY BETS

That could create other risks down the road, however, which authorities are trying to fend off.

Investors buying gold swaps and forwards generally do so on margin, putting up only a part of the money themselves -- potentially setting themselves up for much bigger losses should the market turn sour.

Alarmed by the surge and worried that the giddying climb in prices was encouraging excessive risk-taking, the SGE raised margin requirements twice this month to 12 percent.

The explosive interest in gold investments has also led investors to move to less mainstream derivative products offered by over-the-counter exchanges that have sprung up in recent years, bringing about new risks given the lower margin requirements.

The Tianjin Precious Metals Exchange, established in 2010, has seen a leap in demand for its swap contracts.

"The capital outlay for swap contracts is even lower and it's becoming a popular investment instrument," said Han Qingsheng, a trading manager at Gold Day, a brokerage for the Tianjin Precious Metals Exchange.

While the government is taking a somewhat cautious approach, people's thirst for new investment products will no doubt accelerate China's opening up of the gold sector -- a move long awaited by foreign banks.

In a sign that more changes are afoot, the China Banking Regulatory Commission has already granted membership to two foreign banks to trade gold futures on the Shanghai Futures Exchange.

Industry watchers said changes on the horizon include night trading for the SHFE's gold contracts and expanding the list of domestic banks allowed to import gold -- a big step toward a full liberalization of the sector.

"As physical demand increases, the government will need to increase the supply avenues and some foreign banks have an advantage because of links to overseas mints or foreign trades," said a senior executive at foreign bank.

"This would be the next step we're all waiting for."

Killer whale struck by boat in San Juan Islands

(AP) ? A federal fisheries spokesman says a private boat has hit a killer whale in northwest Washington's San Juan Islands.

National Marine Fisheries Service spokesman Brian Gorman said the whale stopped swimming after being hit Friday, was breathing abnormally and showed signs of distress. He says it's not clear what if any injuries the adult female might have suffered. He confirms witness accounts reported by The Seattle Times (http://bit.ly/oJvBfx) that other killer whales were staying near the stricken whale.

Gorman says officials are looking for the boat. It wasn't immediately clear whether the whale appeared suddenly or whether the boat's driver got too close. Federal regulations now warn boaters to stay 200 yards from whales on the west side of San Juan Island, where the whale was hit.

66% of Smart Phone Owners Use Devices for Shopping, Study ...

The rapid adoption of smart phones and tablets is changing how consumers are engaging brands and making purchases, with key implications for mobile wallet services, retailers and the role of content in the shopping experience.

With a million smart phones being sold every month in the U.S. market, L.E.K. Consulting predicts that more than half of U.S. consumers will be using mobile devices regularly for shopping within the next five years.

In fact, a recent L.E.K. survey of 1,600 U.S. consumers found that 66 percent of smart phone owners have used their devices to make purchases. That doesn?t necessarily mean they paid using their mobile phone, but that they used information retrieved from the device, though 39 percent do report making purchases every month, not including purchases of music and video downloads every month.

More than 80 percent of respondents have used them to assist in purchasing decisions through product research at least once in the past year.

About 60 percent of respondents say they use their ?smart phones to assist in purchases every month. L.E.K. calls such consumers ?active mobile consumers? and those smart phone owners
who shop less frequently as ?mobile window shoppers.?

Those sorts of behaviors illustrate one aspect of the collapsing wall between physical retail shopping and digital domain commerce. Right now many savvy consumers are using mobile
tools to research product information and locate the best deals while in-store. Over time, payment using the mobile and various other promotion and advertising applications also are expected to develop.

Within the past six months, more than half of active mobile consumers surveyed reported using at least one mobile coupon app, nearly a third checked a pricing comparison tool and 29 percent
useda loyalty or similar tool, often while standing in store aisles.

The other noteworthy finding was that consumers are bypassing traditional marketing
campaigns and often are highly influenced by the reviews and other posts from members of their social networks.

Therefore, you should maintain the software updated using the latest hot fixes, security releases, and patches which are released by the vendor to further improve your system?s functionality and security.

- Windows Scripting Host ? Windows Scripting Host is enabled in Windows automatically. Disabling it?ll protect your system against viruses that use the scripting exploit to spread. Some versions of Microsoft Outlook and Internet Explorer incorporate a functionality that enables these applications to perform programs written using the Visual Basic scripting language. This functionality is exploited by viruses, like the ?Love Letter? virus, which has infected a large number of computers since 2000.

- Virus protection in Ms Office Products ? Microsoft ?office? product has a built-in macro-virus protection option. If this method is powered down in your system, enable it to prevent macro-viruses from running automatically if you open the document in which they are embedded.

- Anti Spyware Tool ? Whenever a computer is attached to the internet, an anti-spyware tool is really as essential as an anti-virus tool. Attachments could have a spyware program; therefore scanning an email attachment with just an anti-virus tool isn?t enough. An anti-virus tool cannot detect the existence of spyware in the email attachment. Although the spyware program won?t have a virus, it might download viruses on your computer once it deactivates your antivirus tool.

If your ?how to get rid of viruses? problem continues to be solved, you next priority is the personal email security. Since emails might be lost just like quickly as any other data in the case of a tragedy, always do email backups. This can be achieved by exporting emails into a folder in your hard drive, then including that folder in your scheduled daily or weekly backups.

In addition, if you are wanting to learn more about how to get rid of viruses, you ought to totally check out www.HowToGetRidOfViruses.org!

HP Starts Making Notebooks ? In Japan

hp japanHP caused a major splash (not only) in the technology world when the world's biggest computer maker last week announced it plans to spin off its PC business. But one country, which has always been a unique market for many companies, is apparently getting a special treatment: Japan. We reported back in June that HP will move over part of the production for notebooks from China to Japan, and it looks like the company's decision from last week didn't affect the plan. Today, HP actually started manufacturing these devices in its plant in Akishima, Tokyo.

ABUJA, Nigeria (AP) ? A car loaded with explosives crashed into the main United Nations' building in Nigeria's capital and exploded, killing at least 18 people in one of the deadliest assaults on the international body in a decade. A radical Muslim sect blamed for a series of attacks in the country claimed responsibility for the bombing, a major escalation of its sectarian fight against Nigeria's weak central government.

The brazen assault Friday in a neighborhood surrounded by heavily fortified diplomatic posts represented the first suicide attack to target foreigners in oil-rich Nigeria, where people already live in fear of the radical Boko Haram sect. The group, which has reported links to al-Qaida, wants to implement a strict version of Shariah law in the nation and is vehemently opposed to Western education and culture.

While police officers and local officials have primarily borne the brunt of Boko Haram's rage, now everyone seems to be a target in a nation often divided by religion and ethnicity.

"It is an attack on the global community," said Viola Onwuliri, a junior Nigerian foreign minister, as she looked at the bomb site.

A sedan loaded with explosives crashed through two gates at the exit of the United Nations compound Friday morning as guards tried in vain to stop it, witnesses told The Associated Press. The suicide bomber inside drove the car through the glass front of the main reception area of the building and detonated the explosives, inflicting the most damage possible, a spokesman for the Nigerian National Emergency Management Agency said.

"I saw scattered bodies," said Michael Ofilaje, a UNICEF worker at the four-story building, which he said shook with the explosion. "Many people are dead."

At least 18 people died in the attack, according to an AP survey of morgues at four major Abuja hospitals. Nigerian Health Minister Mohammad Ali Pate made a public appeal for blood donations, saying there were at least 60 injured people alone at the nearby National Hospital.

Of the 18 killed, 15 were U.N. personnel, U.N. deputy spokesman Farhan Haq said Friday night from New York.

The headquarters, known as U.N. House, had offices for about 400 employees working for 26 U.N. humanitarian and development agencies. Authorities worked Friday to account for everyone in the building at the time of the blast.

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon called the car bombing "an assault on those who devote their lives to helping others."

"We condemn this terrible act, utterly," Ban told reporters at U.N. headquarters. "We do not yet have precise casualty figures but they are likely to be considerable. A number of people are dead; many more are wounded."

The U.N. Security Council condemned the attack in "the strongest possible terms" and characterized it as a "heinous crime," while U.N. General Assembly President Joseph Deiss called it "a great loss for the United Nations family."

Anthony Lake, Executive Director of the U.N. children's agency UNICEF, said it was a reminder of the courage of aid workers "who face similar dangers and who are doing so much for so many around the world."

Said Djinnit, the special representative of the U.N. secretary-general for West Africa, told the AP that he expects the casualties are mostly local staff.

The attack was one of the deadliest attacks on the United Nations in a decade. Seventeen U.N. civilian staff members were killed along with dozens of others in two terrorist car bombings that targeted U.N. and other premises in Algiers on Dec. 11, 2007. Friday's bombing also came just days after the U.N. marked the eighth anniversary of the Aug. 19, 2003 bombing of U.N. headquarters in Baghdad that killed 15 U.N. staff including top envoy Sergio Vieira de Mello and seven others.

The attack was also condemned by leaders around the world and members of the U.N. Security Council who individually deplored the targeting of the U.N. at an open meeting on U.N. peacekeeping.

U.S. President Barack Obama called the attack "horrific and cowardly" and expressed strong support for the U.N.'s work.

"The people who serve the United Nations do so with a simple purpose: to try to improve the lives of their neighbors and promote the values on which the U.N. was founded ? dignity, freedom, security, and peace," Obama said in a statement. "An attack on Nigerian and international public servants demonstrates the bankruptcy of the ideology that led to this heinous action."

The explosion punched a huge hole in the building, located in the same neighborhood as the U.S. embassy and other diplomatic posts in Abuja. Workers brought three large cranes to the site within hours of the attack, trying to pull away the concrete and rubble to find survivors. Others at the site stood around, stunned, as medical workers began carrying out what appeared to be the dead.

"This is getting out of hand," said a U.N. staffer who identified himself as Bodunrin. "If they can get into the U.N. House, they can reach anywhere."

Local police spokesman Jimoh Moshood said detectives had begun an investigation. In a statement, Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan's office called the attack "barbaric, senseless and cowardly." The statement also promised to increase security in the nation's capital.

However, Jonathan's administration has struggled to improve security in Nigeria, a nation of 150 million largely split between a Christian south and Muslim north. The Christian president's election in April brought religious and ethnic violence across the north that left 800 people dead.

A spokesman for Boko Haram claimed responsibility for the attack later Friday in a communique to the BBC's Hausa language shortwave radio service, which is widely trusted and listened to throughout Nigeria's Muslim north. The sect has made such claims before to the service.

Boko Haram, which means "Western education is sacrilege," has carried out a series of bombings and assassinations in northern Nigeria in the last year. It claimed a car bombing that struck Nigeria's federal police headquarters in June that killed at least two people.

The sect came to national prominence in 2009, when its members rioted and burned police stations near its base of Maiduguri, a dusty northeastern city on the cusp of the Sahara Desert. Nigeria's military violently put down the attack, crushing the sect's mosque into shards as its leader was arrested and died in police custody. About 700 people died during the violence.

Sect members are scattered throughout northern Nigeria and nearby Cameroon, Chad and Niger. In the last year, they've unleashed a series of targeted killings and bombings.

But attacking foreigners is a new, troubling step for the group. Earlier this month, the commander for U.S. military operations in Africa told the AP that Boko Haram may be trying to coordinate attacks with two al-Qaida-linked groups ? al-Qaida in the Islamic Maghreb, which operates in northwest Africa, and with al-Shabab in Somalia.

"I think it would be the most dangerous thing to happen not only to the Africans, but to us as well," Gen. Carter Ham said Aug. 17.

The attack Friday shows Boko Haram has aspirations beyond targeting local government officials, said Innocent Chukwuma, a Nigerian criminologist and director of a police reform organization.

"Today's has taken it to the international level," Chukwuma said. "The choice of target shows we are perhaps dealing with a group well-connected to international networks."

Employer health insurance?a crisis, or not? - Knight Science ...

The headline was ominous.

?Survey: Employers Consider Ending Health Coverage,? said the?AP. The story appeared around the web, in various newspapers and websites.

Not many others covered the story, which was based on an employer survey by the consulting group Towers Watson. But I did find a similarly frightening headline at International Business Times: ?Employers Look Towards Ending Health Coverage, Survey.?

Boise Weekly offered its own bad news: ?Study: Companies Will Pay Fines Rather Than Participate in Health Insurance Exchanges.?

The stories were about what companies plan to do in 2014, when substantial provisions of the nation?s health care reform law kick into action. And if you read only the headlines, you?d be worried.

So what do companies plan to do? According to the perfectly fine story by the AP, ?Nearly one of every 10 midsized or big employers expects to stop offering health coverage to workers once federal insurance exchanges start in 2014.?

Or, to put it another way, more than 90 percent of these employers do not expect to stop offering health coverage. How does that rate the headline ?Employers Consider Ending Health Coverage?? The hed and the lede are locked in a bloody battle for the truth, and readers are the victims.

Here?s how Towers Watson headlined its press release on the survey: ?Employers Committed to Offering Health Care Benefits Today.?

Did any of the headline writers look at the release, or at the stories to which they were attaching the alarming headlines?

Towers Watson did go on to say that the employers it surveyed were ?concerned about viability of insurance exchanges? that will be created in 2014. But it did not say employers would ?consider? or ?look towards? ending coverage, or ?pay fines rather than participate.?

Maybe yesterday?s earthquake splintered the nation?s headline machine. Let?s hope it?s repaired quickly.

Bowling Sport | Zena Cardman

Of all the indoor sports activities, maybe bowling is considered the most well-liked. Remarkably because the sport might be one of the oldest, if not the oldest sport in history. Undeniably, as well, bowling is the quantity 1 participatory sport in the US.

Bowling is really a sport of scoring factors by knocking down pins with balls. Fundamentally, a player rolls a heavy bowling ball into a flat surface area to knock down arranged pins of nine or 10, depending around the sport you play. There are many types of bowling; some are played indoors which generally utilizes a lane or a lengthy flat polished wooden surface with gutters alongside the duration with the lane. Main examples of these indoor kinds are the feather bowling, duckpin bowling, candlepin bowling, ninepin skittles, 5 pin bowling and the most popular type of bowling which is the Ten-pin.

2012 Toyota Camry Test Drive

On-Sale Date: October 2011

Base Price: $20,500 (estimated)

Competitors: Honda Accord, Nissan Altima, Chevy Malibu, Hyundai Sonata, Ford Fusion

Powertrains: 2.5-liter I4, 178 hp, 173 lb-ft; 3.5-liter V6, 268 hp, 248 lb-ft; 2.5-liter I4 with electric?hybrid, 200 hp (net system); six-speed automatic, CVT; front-wheel drive

EPA Fuel Economy (city/highway): 25 to 43/30 to 39 estimated

What's New: The arrival of a new Camry carries a sense of occasion. It has been the best-selling car for 13 of the past 14 years, and is the car that solidified Toyota's dominance in the U.S. market. And because more people buy this model than any other, a new Camry is both a reflection and a prediction of what Americans want to drive.

Under the more aerodynamic new skin, the Camry rides on an upgraded version of the same chassis. In fact, the Camry's dimensions are nearly identical to those of the outgoing model. So for the first time in Camry history, the model hasn't grown. But that doesn't mean Toyota engineers haven't carved out more room inside. Indeed, there's slightly more headroom, legroom and shoulder-room. And though this Camry is the same size as the old one and packs more technology, it's actually lighter by 150 to 200 pounds, thanks to the use of high-strength steel. In hybrid models, Toyota has modified the rear section of the chassis to accommodate a battery pack that's been moved forward 5.5 inches to increase trunk space, improve crash performance and save weight, chief engineer Yukihiro Okane tells PM.

As before, every grade of Camry gets the 178-hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder as standard. The SE and XLE models have an optional 268-hp 3.5-liter V6 that became a Camry offering during the car's previous redesign. Both engines are paired to six-speed automatics. But it's the Hybrid Camrys that received the most attention under the hood. There's a new 2.5-liter four cylinder with 156 hp and 156 lb-ft of torque (an increase of 9 hp and 18 lb-ft of torque), which uses cooled exhaust gas recirculation to improve fuel economy. Okane says his team went on a quest to reduce friction and find efficiency: They reduced electrical loss in the inverter, as well as mechanical loss in the transaxle. Though the battery pack itself is the same nickel-metal-hydride chemistry, there is new software to manage it and use electric power more efficiently. There's also a new Power Control Unit that uses cooling technology from the Prius and combines the inverter and the DC/DC converter into one space-saving unit. The result, Okane says, is that you can hit speeds of up to 45 mph and travel 1.5 miles in EV mode?though probably not at the same time. And he says that Toyota's internal tests have found this engine's minimum fuel consumption rate to be better than the Prius's, and it shaves a half-second off the Camry Hybrid's 0-to-60-mph time.

Tech Tidbit: Inside, the Camry team eked out every bit of room they could. The front A-pillars were reduced in diameter and reshaped, and the center B-pillar's cross section was reduced to give the interior an airier feel.

Driving Character: If one word described the experience behind the wheel of the previous Camry, it would be "soft." Camrys have always had a gentle, pillowy ride that dampens out the worst of the world's nastiest roads, and they have always been quiet. That hasn't changed. In fact, the enhanced rear-suspension geometry provides an even more comfortable ride. Up front, there are new inversely wound springs, new shocks and antiroll bars. The Camry hasn't exactly morphed into a driver's car, but it's no longer a one-dimensional cream puff, either.

Few will find a reason to opt for any engine other than the standard four cylinder. It's powerful and refined, and it moves the Camry with plenty of zest. But pushing a V6 Camry hard through a set of switchbacks is certainly entertaining. Actually, it's kind of fun. It rolls a bit more than some of the best handlers in the class, but it never felt unstable or unsettled. And the V6 provides major-league thrust. As we passed a cop going the other way, he flashed his lights as a warning. Oops.

Regardless of engine choice, the most impressive model is the SE. You sit down inside this new Camry more than in the last one, and the steering wheel is nice and fat, which immediately puts you in the mood for fun more than the old SE did. The new sport package wears new knuckles up front, lighter and stiffer lower control arms, springs that are 15 percent stiffer and shocks with 50 percent more dampening power than an ordinary Camry's. In the rear, SEs even have a new pillow ball joint in the control arms to improve handling, and retuned electric power steering. It all combines to make for a Camry that corners harder and responds with more athleticism than any before it.

Favorite Detail: The Camry hybrid blows the old one away when it comes to refinement. It's nearly impossible to detect exactly when the Camry switches from pure electric mode to a mode in which the engine is running?the car is just so quiet and smooth at this task. This is where Toyota's longtime hybrid-development leadership pays off. The fact that the hybrid Camry delivers an estimated 43 mpg in the city doesn't hurt, either.

Driver's Grievance: The new Camry is impressive?underneath the metal. But we found the design to be a little too safe. Why can't a Camry look as swoopy as a Mazda6?

The Bottom Line: Toyota navigated a tricky road, making a new Camry that's much better than the last model and doesn't lose all the stuff that has made the Camry the bestseller all these years. The Camry will never be the sportiest or sexiest sedan on the road. But this new one offers a rewarding drive, especially if you opt for the V6 or the SE. Perhaps more importantly, with gas prices spiking, the Camry Hybrid delivers near-Prius mileage.

Articles 20VN | What Blocks Our Love? | relationships | love | dating

Love is the most natural and wonderful thing on earth. Yet, we so easily block it. We might even be in a relationship with someone and block the love for them. So, easy to limit our love life because something blocks our love, a fear, a memory, a hope, an ambition, destiny, truth or whatever. So, we explore love here, and ask the question of ourselves; what blocks our love?

To begin, lets try to understand the paradigm that causes us to hold love to ransom. Take a flower, a rose for example and smell it, look at it, feel it, hold it, listen to it, and taste it. Delicious. Now take the rose and squash it.

Difficult? Why? Because it's beautiful and we don't want to spoil it. It's a sort of built in mechanism in all of us to try to preserve all that is beautiful in the form we think is best. And this is one of the causes of blocked love in life. We get attached to a form, we hold onto that form, we can't let go of that form, and suddenly we're in the poo. Expectations block love.

So, our love becomes conditional. If you are 6 feet tall, gorgeous, wealthy, happy and blab, you're lovable. If not, nice knowing you.

Love also becomes conditional on behaviour. If you are in a relationship with me, you'll do this and this and this and this. And if you're not in a relationship with me, I won't love you.

Complex as it sounds - the solution to all this is surprisingly easy. Learn to separate love and relationship. We can put boundaries around our relationships and say, "if you do this I will be happier" that's a boundary. But you can't put boundary around your love. You can put boundaries around your business culture, if you do this, I will pay you, and if you don't I won't. But you can't put boundaries around your service to others and your inspiration.

I run seminars and the ones I really enjoy are the ones in which people get a tactile experience. Like out in nature, or in a conference room with bits of nature as teachers. In Canada, I was really blessed with some great sponsors and they'd buy flowers for the programs because it was such a shock for people to see how attached they were to the form.

Is a flower, that is all squashed into bits still a flower? It's not a flower in the form we knew it. It's a flower in a new form, called squashed to bits. But is it still a flower? The answer is a resounding yes. So, people come in all shapes and sizes and religions and cultures. Christians say "if you don't worship Jesus, you're not holy" - just like the flower, they are so stuck in form, they can love anything other than the rose in it's "perfect" shape.

In your relationship, partners shift shape allot. You have to learn how to shift your expectations. And if they cross your boundaries you might choose to break the relationship, but not the love. You might say "no matter what, richer or poorer, better or worse, sickness and health, I love you, BUT, if you break my heart, I will not be in a relationship with you"

This is a personal spirituality that makes the world a better place. Instead of broken hearted people looking for compensation in their next relationship, we get loving people, admitting how much they love their ex, and moving into the next relationship without blame and guilt and fear. We also get a more honest dynamic between people.

So many marriages are broken boundary marriages. The boundaries get broken, people compromise for the sake of not breaking up, and live a lifetime staring at the rose, but not feeling it, smelling it, touching it. Just wishing it would be different. Instead of love for that person, they just hope.

When you learn to separate relationship and love, you learn honesty. You can love many, but relationship with few. So, the last part of this short piece is about boundary - expectations. When someone crosses your boundaries you feel justified in being hurt, angry, disappointed, and emotionally defensive.

Boundaries are very complex things. They are our expectations of people. Constructed from our fears, wounds, education, information, social paradigms, guilt's, and a nightmare of other things. Our expectations are our EGO. They can block our love by creating conditions for it. If you do this, I will love you. If you do that I will love you. I guess to a certain extent boundaries reveal our emotional truth.

If I have no boundaries, I have no SELF respect. You can walk all over me, treat me like a piece of dirt. If I have so many boundaries, then you can't get close to me, because you have to fit through such a small keyhole to be accepted by me. No boundaries is a spiritual nirvana, where the ego has no affect on a person's judgements. It's a theoretical place, few human beings are ready to surrender to. It's a place where money, wealth, family, friends, TV sets don't exist. A person with no boundaries ends up with no money, relationship or home. And for them, who cares. They've got love.

People with lots of boundaries end up with lots of things. They end up with wealth, cars, relationships, homes, TV sets, jewels, business. And for them, this is nirvana. They got a life with everything they want. Except love and they get that through affairs, God worship and flirtation. So, you see there's no perfect path and half way between the two is called the masses. Conventional living is the balance between all boundary, and all love.

So the conventional paradigm is finding the middle ground. Not quite the perfect love life, not quite the extreme material life. And so, with this you can see why the majority of people chase happiness, and never allow themselves to find it. Always compromised. Not strong enough to go for success at the cost of love, not strong enough to go for love at the cost of success. Stuck.

The key to all this is the ability to separate love from relationship. Or spirituality from materiality. That is the first key, and the second one is to know which is a priority.

You are sitting at the office, people aren't working correctly, you love them, your heart feels good about them, but you need to get your business profit up, what are you going to do? What's your priority?

You know someone, you love them deeply. You want a relationship but they don't fit your expectations. What are you going to do, choose love or your boundaries for relationships? One is deep the other makes you happy day to day. You want the world to be a better place, you see polluters, armies, religions invading people's boundaries. You want to change it, yet, you know that love is also important to you. What are you going to do, how can you change the situation while holding the idea that everybody deserves love? Love and boundaries can coexist when an individual decides their priorities.
